Module 6 of 16 · Investigate: Patterns & Recognition
AI Ears & Words: Language AI & NLP
How AI understands what you say and write — from chatbots to translators!
30 chapters
What this module covers
This module covers natural language processing: how AI reads, writes, listens and speaks. It begins with tools students know, such as chatbots, translation, autocorrect and next-word prediction, and explains what each one is actually predicting.
Students then meet sentiment analysis, voice assistants, text-to-speech and AI-written stories. The final chapters introduce the ideas behind modern language models: word embeddings (meaning as position in space), the attention mechanism and transformers, before students build chatbots of their own.
Dive deeper into how AI sees, hears, and understands. Explore computer vision and language AI through fun activities.
