What we're building
A real reading track
We’re building activities for letter sounds, constructing letter shapes, rhyming, and blending sounds into first words.
Maths that means something
Planned activities include counting, giving Byte a requested number of objects, and exploring a number path.
Build, sing, move, create
The app is being prepared with songs, building activities, movement breaks, and a scene maker for open-ended play.
It remembers, honestly
We’re designing practice that revisits earlier ideas, records help separately, and explains observed progress to parents in plain language.
Endings by design
We’re building a goodnight ritual and an “after Byte” activity choice to help families bring a session to a gentle close.
Byte, the honest friend
Our character-writing rule is to celebrate actions without pretending Byte misses your child or needs them to keep playing.
Principles guiding the app

Private play
Our app design keeps learning progress on the device and avoids accounts, advertising and analytics in child play. The website signup separately stores a parent’s email.
Gentle sessions
We’re building calm rewards and a clear ending to each session, without streaks or pressure to keep playing.
Meaningful progress
Our progress model distinguishes independent answers from answers given with help, so parents can see what was observed.
Reviewed content
Narration and activities are prepared in advance. Audio checks and human review are part of our release process.
Praise the action
Byte’s encouragement focuses on what the child did, with language such as “You found it!”
