ADEK AI Training: What Abu Dhabi Schools Can Access
Abu Dhabi schools currently have three routes into AI training and curriculum: a free KG–Grade 12 AI literacy curriculum developed with MIT’s Day of AI, an intensive “AI for Teachers” bootcamp run with 42 Abu Dhabi, and the UAE-wide teacher-training rollout delivered by Alef Education and Microsoft. All three are educator-facing or lesson-pack programmes — none provides daily, per-student practice, which is where a classroom platform still has to do the work.

What is the ADEK foundational AI literacy push?
“Foundational AI literacy” is how the goal is usually described rather than the name of a single programme. In practice it is a set of initiatives: a curriculum schools can adopt, teacher upskilling, and emirate-wide training waves. Here is each one, what it includes, and where the official material lives.
1. Day of AI — AI Literacy Curriculum (KG–Grade 12)
Launched for Abu Dhabi in October 2025 with MIT RAISE’s Day of AI initiative: a free, downloadable curriculum of 23 lessons spanning KG through Grade 12, which schools can teach without licensing costs. Official hub: dayofai.org — Abu Dhabi.
2. “AI for Teachers” with 42 Abu Dhabi
An intensive upskilling track run with the 42 Abu Dhabi coding school: a preparatory phase, a two-day bootcamp, then a two-week capstone. The early-2025 pilot reported a 97% net promoter score among participating teachers. Details via 42abudhabi.ae.
3. Alef Education × Microsoft teacher rollout (UAE-wide)
From 11 May to 30 June 2026, roughly 25,000 educators across about 710 schools took part in an AI training wave delivered by Alef Education with Microsoft — coordinated nationally with the MoE, ADEK, KHDA and SPEA, so it reaches Abu Dhabi schools but is not an ADEK-only programme.
What do these programmes not cover?
All three are strong on teacher readiness and lesson materials. What they deliberately leave to schools is the day-to-day layer: structured student practice between lessons, progression tracking across a term, and the evidence trail an inspection visit asks for. A school that adopts the free curriculum still needs to decide how students practise, how progress is recorded, and what it will show when Irtiqa’a reviews AI readiness.
