  1. 1

    Foundational AI concepts

Have a 5-minute family conversation this week: "What is AI?" Use one everyday example (voice assistant, photo filter, recommendation feed).

Why: Children build accurate AI mental models from concrete, named examples — not from abstract definitions.

  2. 2

    Data and algorithms

Show your child where data about your family is collected: which apps, which permissions. Pick one to revisit and remove.

Why: AI is only as good as the data it trains on. Children who understand their own data trail are harder to manipulate later.

  3. 3

    Software applications

Together, use one safe AI tool (Khan Academy Kids, Quokka, or a kid-mode chatbot) for 15 minutes — then stop and discuss what it got right and what it got wrong.

Why: Hands-on practice with the right framing teaches more than any explanation. The discussion is the lesson.

  4. 4

    Ethical awareness

Establish the three household AI homework rules: (1) final answer in your own words, (2) tell us what AI helped with, (3) follow the school rule. Put them on the fridge.

Why: Disclosure habit is the single most-effective ethics tool — it forces the child to articulate what they actually did vs what AI did.

  5. 5

    Real-world applications

Spot AI in your UAE day: Salik (computer vision), food-delivery suggestions (recommendation system), Dubai Metro displays (time-series prediction). Name what each is doing.

Why: Naming reinforces the concept. The everyday Emirati context anchors the learning.

  6. 6

    Innovation and project design

Pick one AI project the child will build this term — a chatbot, image classifier, or recommender. Block 30 minutes a week for it. End-of-term: have them present it to the family.

Why: A single small project compounds AI literacy faster than ten weeks of consuming content. The presentation closes the learning loop.

  7. 7

    Policies and community engagement

Read one paragraph of the UAE National AI Strategy 2031 together. Discuss one career or industry it mentions that your child finds interesting.

Why: Connecting school AI learning to the national strategy gives children a real "why" — not just classroom homework, but a country-level invitation.
