Pattern Playground
Feed in data and let the AI surface patterns the way a model would.
The AI idea behind it
Classification means deciding which group a new example belongs to. With two features, every example is a point on a grid, and a classifier draws a boundary: points on one side are Class A, points on the other are Class B.
Some data can be split cleanly with a simple boundary and some cannot. Seeing where a simple boundary fails is the clearest way to understand why more powerful models exist.
How it works in the app
- Plot points on the grid for Class A and Class B.
- The AI draws a boundary between the two classes and reports how accurately it separates them.
- Undo, clear or save your pattern and try a new one.

Try this
Make the boundary fail
- Plot two clusters, Class A in one corner and Class B in the other. Check the accuracy.
- Clear the grid. Plot Class A in a small circle and surround it with a ring of Class B.
- Compare the accuracy and explain why the second pattern is harder.
What it shows: A simple boundary cannot separate a ring from its centre. Problems like this are why models with curved or layered boundaries, such as neural networks, were developed.
